Jaz and Ricky have a sweet story – they met at a water polo tournament back in 2009 in Christchurch. Fast forward a few years, and Ricky proposed after a sunset surf at Forestry beach – there were even dolphins there, how magical it was!
Jaz and Ricky’s wedding was the perfect blend of elegant and chic, yet it radiated a relaxed, candid vibe that reflected their unique style. Set against the stunning blue backdrop of Hahei Beach at Orua Sea Grotto, every detail felt effortless and authentic. The relaxed table setting and cozy Teepee setup created a perfect mix of sophistication and laid-back charm. Jaz looked absolutely breathtaking in her gown, and later, her party dress added a fun, playful touch, perfect for dancing under the stars.
What stood out most about their wedding was how true they stayed to themselves because they ditched many traditional elements and did things their way, creating an atmosphere that was intimate, meaningful, and incredibly enjoyable for their guests. Every moment felt natural, unforced, and beautifully candid.
In their interview with Together Journal, Jaz and Ricky shared that one of the elements they were especially happy to splurge on was photography and videography. As they put it, “We’re lucky to have attended a heap of weddings over the years, and this is definitely something you notice. I love watching our friends’ wedding videos, and I’m so glad we got one to watch back. It definitely captures the vibe/feeling of everything so well. And photos speak for themselves, something to cherish forever.” I couldn’t agree more, and I’m so honored that they chose me to capture these timeless memories. Thank you, Jaz and Ricky, for trusting me to document your beautiful day—your photos truly speak to the love and connection you share.
